Alternative Boarding Schools in New England - Oliverian School
Admissions Process

The admissions process at Oliverian begins with your phone call to Barclay Mackinnon, Director of Admissions/Head Emeritus (contact information below). Following our initial phone conversation with you, we will send you a packet of information overnight express mail about Oliverian.  For your convenience, we have an online application that can be accessed here: http://crm.bestnotes.com/portal/oliverian.

A complete application includes:
• Transcript(s)
• Educational Testing – if applicable
• Psychological Testing – if applicable
• Interview
• Essay from student describing likes, dislikes, goals, and reasons for interest in The Oliverian School.
• Essay from parents describing hopes, objectives, and goals for their son or daughter.
• Three phone references from teachers or counselors.

We like to meet with both parents and the student when possible. In the rare case that the student can not come for the visit, a phone conference, or similar interview opportunity, between the admissions committee and the student will be scheduled.

Please call the Admissions Office to setup an interview and visit at your earliest convenience. Families should expect to spend as long as three hours on campus for the visit, and you will have the opportunity to tour our beautiful campus, see a student dorm, meet Oliverian students and faculty, and meet with a variety of administrators as a family and individually as parents and student.

Soon after your departure from campus, the admissions committee will meet to discuss whether or not we accept or decline the student’s application for admission. This decision is based on whether we feel that Oliverian can meet the student’s needs. Typically this decision is made within 72 hours, but there are times when the admissions committee will need more time to make their decision.

The Oliverian School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
