06.22.2011 Annual Fund Update - Oliverian Celebrates Giving of the Class of 2011 and the Board of Trustees
Dear Friends:
We are pleased and proud to announce that the entire Class of 2011, as well as every member of the Oliverian Board of Trustees, has now made a gift in support of the 2010-2011 Annual Fund! With the June 30th closing of the fund year looming, won’t you consider joining our newest alumni, as well as our governing Board, and make a gift to Oliverian? Thanks to these and other generous donors, we are now more than 80% of the way towards achieving our Annual Fund goal of $105,000. With your participation, we can once again be celebrating a very successful year.
As you may be aware, tuition dollars alone do not fully support the School’s budget, so we depend upon parents (both current and past), alumni, grandparents, and other friends of Oliverian for donations to support the operations of the School. While our goal is a lofty one, particularly in this challenging economic environment, please be mindful of the fact that your generous support of Oliverian goes far to enhance the day-to-day life here in Pike. Many exciting programs that are offered at the School are the direct result of thoughtful Annual Fund support, and have an immediate impact on the Oliverian experience for students and faculty alike.
If you have already made a gift to the 2010-2011 Annual Fund, we thank you once again. If you have not, our hope is that you will consider a tax-deductible gift or pledge in support of The Oliverian School prior to the June 30th deadline. Making a gift to the School is very easy, and you may do so by visiting our Giving page on the Oliverian website (www.oliverianschool.org). If for any reason you would prefer not to make an online gift, you may call the Oliverian Business Office at 603-989-5100 (ext. 7014) and speak to Janice Hatch about making an Annual Fund contribution with a credit card, or you may send a check made payable to The Oliverian School.
The Oliverian students and faculty join me in thanking you, in advance, for your generous support of the Annual Fund. We appreciate all that you do for the School, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Carl J. Lovejoy
Director of External Affairs

This weekend the entire school headed up to Caratunk, Maine to Adventure Bound’s campground. Spread throughout seven outdoor cabins, we stayed Saturday and Sunday night of Memorial Weekend. We arrived Saturday, got situated, spent time in the 15 person hot tub and ate an awesome pizza dinner supplied by Adventure Bound. Then came Sunday, the best day; the day of rafting! Up at 7am, we all got fitted into our wet suits then bussed off to The Dead River where the water levels were unusually high- 10,000 cubic feet per second (CFCs)! With huge waves and boats full of friends and the entertaining raft guides, we spent half the day challenging the pulsing waters. Two full boats were flipped, but thankfully everyone was okay. Once off the river, there was more hot tub time, hanging out, s’more making, campfires, and movies. Most kids slept outside that night and then came Monday morning and we departed. Overall the weekend was one for the books. The river woke up the spirits of so many students and really gave us all that extra burst of energy to make it through the end of the year!
Please visit the
Adventure Bound website to view or order rafting pictures.

06.06.2011 Senior Projects The Senior Project is a program that provides each Oliverian senior with the opportunity to design and carry out a personally meaningful educational program. Projects should demonstrate a senior’s ability to: select and identify a challenge of personal interest, problem solve, manage time, organize, research, document learning, communicate, and reflect. Caitlin Barnhart ’11 (Brunswick, ME) has exhibited a special interest and great talent in the arts throughout her experience at Oliverian. Therefore, for her Senior Project, Caitlin chose to showcase fellow students’ artwork as well as create a few original pieces of her own to share with the community.
