As most of you know, Barclay Mackinnon has been the welcoming face for every student and family who has come to Oliverian over the past 15 years. We’re excited to add a new member to our admissions team to make the admissions process even better for families and consultants while helping Barclay do more of what he does best.
Brendan Bigos is coming aboard as Oli’s Director of Marketing & Development. In his new role, Brendan will work to protect and refine Oliverian’s profile, select right-fit students, and create a positive experience for families, educational consultants, and other referents.
Barclay will continue to shepherd families through the admissions process while nurturing referring professionals and the massive network of highly engaged Oliverian alumni he’s helped develop over the past 15 years.
A New England native, Brendan was born in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and played lacrosse for Franklin & Marshall College. After graduating with a degree in American Studies, Brendan spent a season years playing lacrosse in Australia before accepting a position as Assistant Dean of Students at Hyde Schools in Bath, Maine. He later moved to Bend, Oregon, where he spent six years working with young adults as a life coach, student life director, and program director at College Excel. During his tenure at College Excel, Brendan developed programming to support college students who were struggling to succeed.
Most recently, Brendan ran the academic program at US Performance Academy, a startup hockey academy for high performance athletes in New Hampshire.
We asked Brendan what excites him about working at Oli. “I was impressed by the Oliverian mission and their commitment to helping young people find a purpose and a way forward,” he says.“The commitment of the faculty and staff to the students was immediately apparent when I first stepped on campus. The students are treated as individuals and afforded the opportunity to seek their place in the world in a way that is tailored to their uniqueness. I am very happy to be a part of this community.”
Brendan enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, hunting with his two dogs Boom and Mo, and reading. Please join us in welcoming him to the family!
Please don’t hesitate to call either Brendan or Barclay about Oliverian admissions.
