Stewardship Teacher

Joshua Dilling, is a student of the outdoor education world having over the past six years pursuing experience and knowledge in the business of summer camps, outdoor education programs, and conservation crews. During this time, Joshua also worked to gain the knowledge, skills, and certifications needed for being a facilitator, mentor, and guide in the industry. Due to his interest in the outdoors, the adventures, and fulfilling work to be discovered there, Joshua found himself moving often, which lead to him living, working, and exploring the many amazing regions of the continental United States. Joshua’s adventures have now lead him to New Hampshire as an Oliverian Dorm Parent, where he is excited to work with Oliverian’s unique students and apply his past experience, while first and fore mostly continuing to grow as a mentor and educator in the odd world of working with young folks.

During his free time, Joshua can often be found exploring the incredible public lands by foot, paddle, and car, while loving every bit of time, discomfort, silliness, and awe spent outside. Joshua also loves reading naturalist and fiction books, carving spoons, bowls, and the like, with far more interest than skill.

What do you love about Oliverian?
I appreciate how determined and invested the faculty are in making things happen, the way they approach supporting the students, and how they set the students up for success in the very best ways they can.

What motivates you to work with kids?
Any success I have had as an adult is linked to the outdoors, youth programs, and the adults involved in opening up doors for me, meeting me where I was, and helping me to see the potential both within and outside myself. This is a large part of why I was inspired to pursue a life working with young folks outdoors, not to mention the amount of fun I have while doing so!
